I'll be visiting Fitzroy Island for a holiday style DXpedition in October 2010 with my wife. My equipment will be an Icom IC706MKIIG with verticals operating on 15m, 20m and 40m SSB, PSK31 & RTTY.
We'll arrive Saturday October 16 and the antennas will be put up later that day. So I hope to be on the air that evening. I'll be operating whenever the bands are open through to late Friday evening October 22. The antennas need to be taken down Saturday morning for our 10am (0000 UTC) check out.
I've managed to book a beach side cabin so I hope to get the verticals close to the water. There is a clear take off short path to JA/Asia, short path to Europe/Middle East/Africa and long path to North America. There may be some blocking from the hills of the island to short path North America and/or long path Europe.
Anyway fingers crossed for some good results. I'll be assembling the antennas and testing them this week at home here in Townsville, QLD.
